We have wanted to have a baptism for a long time and with much joy, after church, Sunday, February 21, six candidates were baptized at Dubois Park in Jupiter, FL. Pastor Tony assisted by Pastor Roy baptized Alison, Page, Amanda, Janette, and Dustin, and TG Heninger, assisted by Pastor Tony, baptized Brandon. A time of fellowship at the park followed the baptism, with thanks to Jen Hart for preparing hot dogs and all the fixin's. We are already talking about our next baptism. What a joy it is when believers take that step of obedience and follow the Lord in baptism.

The news media is slowly going away, but the needs are not. We are still helping the transport of medical and other supplies from Vision of Hope Ministries in Ft Lauderdale to Missionary Flights International in Ft Pierce, FL. As soon as we hear from our missionary Pastor Henoc Lucien in the north we will put out the word for what is needed.

From Steve Spellman, Our ReachGlobal partner we took to Missionary Flights Int'l Jan 23:7 of the most exhausting days of my life...but you never stop, you never shut down because anything we do is dwarfed by the need, by the devastation, by the hurting of people who don't have the "choice" to be here. Many are asking how I'm holding up. I'm in good health, eating carefully, traveling always with a translator, driver (and oft-times personal guard) and simply trying to be more of a help than a hindrance. I'm surrounded by incredible people and am running 100 miles an hour just to keep up with them - and all of us running to catch up to the needs.

I'll probably fly out between Feb. 8-10. Head home for 2+ weeks and then possibly return for the first 2 weeks of March, helping to set up a system to receive the myriad of teams wanting to come down and "stand in the gap" with our Haitian friends.

Thanks, all, for caring and praying so much

VOHM Haiti Relief Update - January 28 - Home

From VOHM president, Greg Schuenke:

Based on information and in consultation with Brian Duggan, EFCA's ReachGlobal Latin America Director, we decided on the need for the following things:

-The need for VOHM/TouchGlobal to develop and staff a field hospital next to our Berard EFCA Church is no longer necessary.
-Medical supplies should now be shipped to Touch Global. You can see their contact information here.
-VOHM/TouchGlobal will focus upon construction and support for now in the north in the Cap Haitian area.
-A deep well and water purification system long in the planning stages for Berard will go ahead. Funds for this project have already been raised and volunteers with expertise in this area are engaged in making this project a reality now.
-Complete the construction of the orphan house. This Friday, a 14 member team arrives to finish the security fence around this property and begin work on the bathrooms and the tiling inside the house.
-Repair of Ministry complex in Berard.
-Financial support for disaster-related activities.

TouchGlobal has assessed the situation in Port au Prince and is developing a plan which may include among other initiatives a partnership with VOHM in the Port au Prince area as well as in the north in and around Cap Haitien.

Children are very important to us at LifeSong. From nursery to pre-school and through fifth grade, we are seeking to develop ministries that partner with parents to be a blessing to these ages. Though our facilities are very limited, we have set aside and outfitted our new Children's Room and hope to grow this ministry as our Lord leads and provides. Rita Pallatt coordinates LifeSong Children.

Spring Breakout Camping Trip

You won't want to miss out on the Spring Breakout Camping Trip to be held at Jonathan Dickinson State Park, in Martin County, Florida. The cost of the trip is guesstimated at $50.00 (actual cost to be announced soon) and that includes the following; Camp Fees, Boating, Canoeing, Food, Transportation, A Camp Shirt, and the Study Material for each student. The dates for the retreat are March 29-31, 2009. Students are only invited to attend if they understand that this trip entails duties that must be performed by the attending student such as cleaning, cooking, and other manual jobs. Students must be approved and sign a "Willing to Participate" contract before permission can be granted by the youth pastor for the student to attend.

IMPORTANT!!! You must register before March 9th and submit your $50 payment no later than March 23rd in order to get a spring break T-Shirt. You and/or a friend may not be able to sign up after March 9, as certain arrangements need to be made.

We're looking for some camping supplies. If you have any of the following and would be willing to loan the equipment, please email Tony and let him know. Tents (4 to 8 man is preferred), Lanterns (Propane or battery operated), Large Coolers, and Propane stoves.

Pastor Tony Sorrell - Our Staff

Associate Pastor of Youth and Community
Tony, and his wife Roseanna, moved to Jupiter in 2003 while attending Palm Beach Atlantic University. They began attending LifeSong Community in May of 2003 while Tony continued towards a degree in Social Ministry and Youth Ministry. Tony has worked with children and teenagers, both in a church and secular capacity since 1993 and felt God calling him into the ministry in August of 2000 while working with a youth ministry in Satellite Beach, Florida. Tony and Roseanna welcomed their first child, named Ella, on May 13, 2006 and have been blessed by her smile to this day.

Today, Tony and Roseanna work side by side to see that the teens and young adults here at LifeSong are ministered to on a level appropriate to their age. They know that the majority of Christians claim they accepted Jesus as their Savior while they were young and with that knowledge they strive to make sure that the gospel is relevant to them and that all have the opportunity to come to know the Lord or be growing in Him. Tony feels that "Our young people are not the future generation of the church, they are the generation now." Both Tony and Roseanna look forward to continuing serving God and our youth and young adults with LifeSong Community Church.

Rev. Roy W. Pallatt, Executive PastorRoy’s passion for ministry goes back to 1982 when God first called both Roy and his wife, Rita to pastoral ministry right out of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. After a ten-year pastorate in Satellite Beach, Florida, the Lord opened the door for the Pallatt family to do church-planting in Singapore serving under the Evangelical Free Church of America - ReachGlobal mission, where with Rebekah, Ryan and Roger, they served for seven years. Both Rebekah and Ryan graduated from high school in Singapore. Their ministry path brought them all back to their home base in Melbourne, Florida in 2000. Roger received his high school diploma in 2001 from the Brevard County Schools.

With all three children now making their own way as adults, Roy continues to serve ReachGlobal as Division Business Manager serving the countries of Japan, Hong Kong and Macau, China, Mongolia and the Philippines as well as a number of Creative Access areas.

In 2003, Roy and Rita joined the staff of LifeSong to lead and build in the area of Worship. As LifeSong’s new Executive Pastor, Roy is excited to see what God has in store for this church. Roy’s preaching and leadership reflects the “Centrality of God’s Word” and “Fruitful Evangelism” as a continuation of the legacy of LifeSong Community Church where “Spirit-filled Worship” is a powerful tool to unite us to see Christ build His Church... until He comes! (September 10, 2009) Painting has begun (and almost finished in the sanctuary) and has brought the interior of the church building to life. The A/C vents are all installed and we are running out of things that need to be finished. After the painting goes the carpet. Things are moving fast. Pray that we are in long before the pumpkin patch begins.

This picture was taken on November 1, 2008 the day before the first of the concrete is poured. Keep in touch as we post more pictures of the progress. On Sunday, November 2 we are going place under the foundation all of the written Praises and Thanksgivings we wrote out last May. We are very committed that our foundation is Jesus Christ and we are here to glorify Him in all we do. We pray that this facility will be a lighthouse of Christ's love and truth, and a house of prayer and praise to the glory of God!

The Building Committee met on Friday, September 26 on the site and discussed the progress with Richie, the project manager from Winfree Contracting. Much of the underground water and drainage pipes are now in. With the Pumpkin Patch beginning in just one week, the committee was glad to hear the project manager be so supportive of this outreach and even volunteered to help unload the pallets when they are delivered to the site. Pastor Tony is coordinating with Richie on this as well as sign placement for the patch and other things as well.

Our Five Values - Our Mission

As a result of a study of Pastor Rick Warren's book, The Purpose Driven Church, we have adapted his purposes to our context as Five Values, stated in the following manner... The celebration of God's presence in WORSHIP... The communication of God's Word through EVANGELISM... The education of God's people through DISCIPLESHIP... The incorporation of God's family into FELLOWSHIP... and, The demonstration of God's love through MISSION, Service and Ministry. As a help in remembering each key word, we think of this as a radio station: WED-FM.

Praise Band - Worship

Worship is one of the 5 "values" of LifeSong Community Church. When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, he answered, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." (Matt. 22:37) That is what worship is all about and that we can do every day of our lives. The ministry of the Praise Band is to lead God's people in "loving the Lord" through melody, harmony and rhythm--through music.

We are always looking for people who have a passion for worship through music. Just stop by and see Rita Pallatt for more information after the service on any Sunday.

The Vision from 2003 - Our Mission

It was back in 2002, at LifeSong's Annual Meeting, that a very difficult decision was reached--to be a church-plant in the new and growing area called, Abacoa. It is simultaneously exciting and difficult to be given a new vision from God. However, that is exactly what He has done at LifeSong Community Church. God has called this church to a new ministry, a new location, and a new beginning... and the journey has been long by today's standards; but not in biblical proportions.

A New Ministry: God desires two things from us to know Him and to obey Him. This, however, does not take place automatically. Since we were created in God's Trinitarian image (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), we are by nature relational beings. Therefore, we have come to recognize that church is "vertical" in that we desire to love the Lord our God fully, and "horizontal" in that we intentionally seek to relate to one another in loving, supporting and encouraging ways, as we grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus and in His Spirit. Therefore, we are committed to both our vertical and horizontal activities as believers.

A New Location: God has cleared the way for us at LifeSong to have a physical presence within the Abacoa community. This physical presence rests on 4.6 acres within the community of Windsor Creek and Windsor Park. Within just a half mile radius of this location there will soon be about 2,000 housing units and we are called to minister and serve these people as a lighthouse of God's transforming power.

A New Beginning: South Florida is and always will be a place of new beginnings as people continually relocate. Although God is unlimited, we are limited. Therefore, we will have many new beginnings as we seek to reach the people He is directing us to reach. We desire to be a part of starting new churches, not just locally but globally as well... PASSION... VISION... MISSION.

The fields are ripe for harvest. We invite you to be a part of this great adventure. We have arrived at a destination point that began to take shape back in 2002. The Lord has opened the door for us to enter 1022 Community Drive. This is a new beginning TO GLORIFY GOD even more!

How our values are worked out - Our Mission

      1. God's Word.
We believe that the 66 books of the Bible (God’s Word) are inspired of God, and have tremendous implications for our lives. If God lays claim over our lives (and He does), then what He has revealed to us has both authority over us and relevance to us. His Word lights up our life’s path with wisdom for right living. Studying, understanding, and living out God’s Word is extremely important to us.
2. Authentic Worship.
When asked, “What is the greatest commandment?” Jesus replied, “Love God as much as you possibly can.” (see Luke 10:27) Worshiping God is our expression of love for Him. This worship can be demonstrated in a church service or any time at all, in all we do. In our worship we seek to be real. We want our worship to be from the heart, not just a religious routine, done out of a sense of duty. That’s what we mean by authentic.
3. Incarnational Living.
When Jesus came to earth He was God in the flesh. Not only did He tell us how to live, He showed us. When Jesus returned to Heaven, He gave us the task of telling and showing others what God is like. We are not divine as Jesus was, but we strive to live out our lives day by day showing people the love of God that comes from Jesus.
4. Intentional Relationships.
As followers of Jesus we know that meaningful relationships are of crucial importance, but they don’t just happen automatically. As Christians we are to love one another, and we are to seek to show others the way to God through Jesus. Jesus himself said that the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as much as you love yourself. This means we work diligently to treat others with dignity and respect, loving them as much as we possibly can.
5. Healthy Families.
The most basic human institutions are marriage and the family. If our families are healthy and strong, our church “family” will be healthy and strong. This will even have an effect on our neighborhoods and communities. Being a good parent and having a strong marriage is not easy, so we want to give support to families as well as individuals as we all grow together.

With the graduation of almost 20 graduates in the last two years, our high school students have all but about gone. So Lite Nite, (the high school youth meeting) is taking a little break. We are going to focus our resources on the Middle Schoolers. So we are going to invite the high schoolers to visit the JAMS Session on Tuesdays from 6-8 until we are ready to reactivate the high school meeting. You're maturity will be a huge asset to the younger students. Also soon, upperclassmen (grades 11-12) will be invited to join our College Group Encounter on Thursday evenings. Stay tuned for more information about that. But don't forget to stay tuned about our ski trip coming up in December.

Lifesong Community Church is a member of a church movement called The Evangelical Free Church of America, which is an association of more than 1,300 autonomous churches united by a mutual commitment to serve our Lord Jesus Christ with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and obedience to the Word of God. We are committed to cooperate with one another in ministry and fellowship as we seek to fulfill the Great Commission which Christ has entrusted to His Church. The growing ministry of the EFCA currently extends to some 45 countries of the world.

What Does "Evangelical" Mean?
The term Evangelical refers to our commitment to the proclamation of the Gospel and to the authority of Scriptures as being inerrant in the original writings and the only safe and sufficient guide to faith and practice.

What Does "Free" Mean?
The term Free refers to our form of church government as being congregational. Evangelical Free Churches depend upon the active participation of lay people in each local congregation, without "denominational" control.

We desire to develop a sense of community in the midst of a growing congregation. We want a place where people feel connected and have close friendships. Therefore it is our intention as we grow to encourage everyone at LifeSong to connect in a small group context in order to grow in Christ.

"So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow." (1 Corinthians 3:7)

"Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our area of activity among you will greatly expand, so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you." (2 Corinthians 10:15-16)

As we grow we want to empower group leaders and hosts to organize their groups according to the felt needs of that group. If you are interested in LifeSong small groups, please contact Pastor Roy Pallatt.

Volunteer Musicians Wanted - Worship

LifeSong Praise Band is looking for musicians to join our dynamic and worshiping Praise Band and to expand our worship team. These are volunteer positions. The type of instrumentalists we are looking for are those who have a heart for worshipping God and who look at their musical gifts as a way of glorifying the Lord and giving those gifts back to Him as an offering. At this time we are seeking a keyboardist/synth player who can read piano music as well as play chords, a contemporary worship drummer, and an electric bass player. When we go into the new facility we will have one service at 10:30 AM and hope to add another at 8:30 AM soon. The keyboard player would need to be able to read music for the earlier service and to be able to read chord charts at the later service. If you are interested, please join us for worship and then talk with Rita Pallatt, our Worship Minister after the service.
