To Glorify God
LifeSong Community Church reaches out to all, shares the hope found in Jesus Christ, and lives life’s song to the glory of God.
Our Five Values
As a result of a study of Pastor Rick Warren’s book, The Purpose Driven Church, we have adapted his purposes to our
context as Five Values, stated in the following manner… The celebration of God’s presence in WORSHIP… The communication of God’s Word through EVANGELISM… The education of God’s people through DISCIPLESHIP… The incorporation of God’s family into FELLOWSHIP… and, The demonstration of God’s love through MISSION, Service and Ministry. As a help in remembering each key word, we think of this as a radio station: WED-FM.
How our values are worked out
1. God’s Word.
We believe that the 66 books of the Bible (God’s Word) are inspired of God, and have tremendous implications for our lives. If God lays claim over our lives (and He does), then what He has revealed to us has both authority over us and relevance to us. His Word lights up our life’s path with wisdom for right living. Studying, understanding, and living out God’s Word is extremely important to us.
2. Authentic Worship.
When asked, “What is the greatest commandment?” Jesus replied, “Love God as much as you possibly can.” (see Luke 10:27) Worshiping God is our expression of love for Him. This worship can be demonstrated in a church service or any time at all, in all we do. In our worship we seek to be real. We want our worship to be from the heart, not just a religious routine, done out of a sense of duty. That’s what we mean by authentic.
3. Incarnational Living.
When Jesus came to earth He was God in the flesh. Not only did He tell us how to live, He showed us. When Jesus returned to Heaven, He gave us the task of telling and showing others what God is like. We are not divine as Jesus was, but we strive to live out our lives day by day showing people the love of God that comes from Jesus.
4. Intentional Relationships.
As followers of Jesus we know that meaningful relationships are of crucial importance, but they don’t just happen automatically. As Christians we are to love one another, and we are to seek to show others the way to God through Jesus. Jesus himself said that the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as much as you love yourself. This means we work diligently to treat others with dignity and respect, loving them as much as we possibly can.
5. Healthy Families.
The most basic human institutions are marriage and the family. If our families are healthy and strong, our church “family” will be healthy and strong. This will even have an effect on our neighborhoods and communities. Being a good parent and having a strong marriage is not easy, so we want to give support to families as well as individuals as we all grow together.
The Vision from 2003
It was back in 2002, at LifeSong’s Annual Meeting, that a very difficult decision was reached–to be a church-plant in the new and growing area called, Abacoa. It is simultaneously exciting and difficult to be given a new vision from God. However, that is exactly what He has done at LifeSong Community Church. God has called this church to a new ministry, a new location, and a new beginning… and the journey has been long by today’s standards; but not in biblical proportions.
A New Ministry: God desires two things from us to know Him and to obey Him. This, however, does not take place automatically. Since we were created in God’s Trinitarian image (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), we are by nature relational beings. Therefore, we have come to recognize that church is “vertical” in that we desire to love the Lord our God fully, and “horizontal” in that we intentionally seek to relate to one another in loving, supporting and encouraging ways, as we grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus and in His Spirit. Therefore, we are committed to both our vertical and horizontal activities as believers.
A New Location: God has cleared the way for us at LifeSong to have a physical presence within the Abacoa community. This physical presence rests on 4.6 acres within the community of Windsor Creek and Windsor Park. Within just a half mile radius of this location there will soon be about 2,000 housing units and we are called to minister and serve these people as a lighthouse of God’s transforming power.
A New Beginning: South Florida is and always will be a place of new beginnings as people continually relocate. Although God is unlimited, we are limited. Therefore, we will have many new beginnings as we seek to reach the people He is directing us to reach. We desire to be a part of starting new churches, not just locally but globally as well… PASSION… VISION… MISSION.
The fields are ripe for harvest. We invite you to be a part of this great adventure. We have arrived at a destination point that began to take shape back in 2002. The Lord has opened the door for us to enter 1022 Community Drive. This is a new beginning TO GLORIFY GOD even more!
